Correspondence between Cha-do students

Letter from " Chanoyuin" ---

Interesting. i also made the experience that although many taiwanese people like japanese culture (and especially japanese food), the own tea culture is so strong that poeple normally aren't very open for japanese tea. how many tea students are there in taipei? if i may ask, is there any special reason you havent been attending classes for over a year now? do you have an opportunity to practice at home alone? is it you playing accordion? im actually a musician. my instrument is accordion. thats the main reason for my connections to china. we got so many
(mainland) chinese accordion students here in hannover. and at age 16 i stayed in tianjin at an accordion professor's home for 3 months.

ive been trying to find tea students here in hannover for some years now, but its very hard, and i doubt ill ever make a living by that. so at the moment i need to search for a firm job here and probably cant afford to travel to taiwan any time soon.  fortunately, i got in touch with an unrasenke student from brussels recently, who is coming to hannover and makes me come to brussels for lessons regularly. so i got some new hope and will wait how thats gonna develop...

anyway, id love to go to taiwan again. so thanks for your offer to show me around! ill let you know in case i got any kind of travel plans for asia in the future.

Letter to " Chnoyuin "

First, to teach Chanoyu in Taiwan for a living simply won't work.
Second, I am not a musician, I don't play any instrument let alone accordion. The one in that video clip that I uploaded was a street artist who had lost his eye sight, blind, a decade ago.
The Urasenke Taipei has got less 100 members. The monthly Cha-do class is still active, about 20~25 members attend the class regularly. As a retired person, the 2000 NTD fee each month seems a little bit high. That's why I stopped going to the class.

Now I just keep the habit of serving a bowl of Usucha to my self, every other morning or so, and, enjoy the moment of peace.

Claude
